Moscow, Russia. September  28, 2009 

DRG International Inc.(USA) and Alkor Bio (Russia) organized a workshop named 'Important Issues of Prenatal Screening in Russia' during  Theoretical and Practical Conference "Laboratory Medicine in terms of Conception of Russian Healthcare Development till 2020".

Alkor Bio developed and introduced into the market "Isida" program - a unique software for calculation of risk of congenital malformations in newborns and hereditary diseases. The latest diagnostic tools for the 1st and the 2nd trimesters of pregnancy are used in the software. 

The following hormone ELISAs  are used in the software as markers of hereditary diseases:

AFP by Alkor Bio

The workshop began with a welcoming speeches by  Dr. Dmitry Saprygin, the President of  RAMLD (Moscow), and by the President & CEO of DRG International, Inc., Dr. Cyril E. Geacintov.

The most urgent issues of diagnostics in pregnant women were covered during the workshop, as well as future development of prenatal screening in Russia.

The following reports were presented:

- Current State Of Biochemical Prenatal Screening.  - by Dr. Tatyana Kasheyeva (Ott Research Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology, St. Petersburg)

- Automated Calculation Of  Risk  Of Congenital Malformations And Hereditary Diseases - ISIDA Software. - by Ms. M. Bessonova, (Project Manager, Alkor Bio, St. Petersburg)  

- Experience Of Practical Use Of ELISA Kits For Detection Of  PAPP-A, Free Estriol, Free Beta HCG In The Vladimir Region. - by Dr. O.I. Zavadskaya Laboratory (Doctor-Geneticist, Regional Clinical Hospital, Medical-Genetics Consulting Division, Vladimir).

- Application Of Hormonal Studies For Pregnancy Management Of Women With High Risk Of Perinatal Pathology.  - Dr. S.A. Vitushko, Senior Scientist; O.A. Efimushkina, Scientist (Perinatal Diagnostics Department, Moscow Regional Research Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology, Moscow)

The workshop had over 150 attendees from all regions of Russia, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok. Some reports were followed by active discussions, which shows high interest of Russian specialists to the issues covered.

After the seminar an «LaborArtGallery» party took place. About 80 customers of DRG® and Alkor Bio were present there.
